About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Process Control Engineer to lead advanced process control strategies and solutions. This fully remote role requires a deep understanding of industrial automation, control systems, and optimization techniques to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and product quality. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex control systems, providing expert technical guidance, and driving innovation in process automation. This is a remote‑first opportunity, allowing you to contribute your expertise globally.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced process control (APC) systems.
• Develop and optimize control strategies for complex chemical processes.
• Utilize simulation tools to test and validate control algorithms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with process control hardware and software.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to process control engineers.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in automation technology and control theory.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of control systems.
• Develop and deliver training on process control best practices.
• Conduct process hazard analyses related to control system failures.
• Contribute to the development of digital transformation initiatives within process industries.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in process control engineering, with a strong background in PID control, model predictive control (MPC), fuzzy logic, and neural networks.
• Proficiency in programming languages relevant to control systems (e.g., C++, Python).
• Experience with DCS/PLC platforms.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Self‑motivated individual capable of working independently and collaborating effectively in a virtual team environment.
• Ability to support clients worldwide from a base near Sokoto, Sokoto, NG.
