About the role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Principal Process Engineer to lead complex projects and drive significant improvements in their industrial operations. This is a senior role that requires deep technical expertise, a strategic mindset, and a proven ability to manage large-scale engineering initiatives. While the role can be performed remotely, occasional travel to project sites may be required. The ideal candidate will be adept at process design, optimization, simulation, and troubleshooting across various manufacturing and production environments. You will mentor junior engineers and champion best practices in process engineering.

Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex industrial processes, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality standards are met. Optimize existing manufacturing processes to improve yield, reduce cycle times, minimize waste, and lower operational costs. Utilize process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) to model, analyze, and predict process performance. Develop PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) for new and existing processes. Conduct feasibility studies and conceptual design for new process technologies and equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve complex process-related issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. Develop and execute process validation protocols and performance testing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, maintenance, and quality assurance, to achieve project goals. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of process engineers and technicians. Develop and implement process safety management (PSM) programs and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Author technical reports, documentation, and project proposals. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in process engineering and manufacturing. Manage external engineering consultants and contractors as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. A Master's degree or PhD is highly desirable. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in industrial process engineering, with a strong focus on process design and optimization. Extensive experience with process simulation software and statistical analysis tools. Proven track record of successfully leading and completing complex engineering projects. Deep understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mass transfer principles. Experience with process safety management (PSM) and HAZOP studies. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Strong leadership, communication, and team collaboration abilities. Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and manage projects autonomously. Familiarity with various manufacturing environments (e.g., batch, continuous). Project management skills are a significant advantage. Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus. This remote position offers an exceptional opportunity for a senior engineer to make a substantial impact on operational excellence and innovation.
