Job Details
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project teams and provide oversight for the design, development, and delivery of civil engineering projects
- Manage project schedules, budgets, construction documents, and contracts
- Oversee field coordination and construction support activities
- Prepare contracts, fee proposals, and scopes of work
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, public agencies, and internal staff
- Provide mentorship and direction to engineering and design staff
- Perform conceptual/preliminary design studies considering zoning, land use, infrastructure, and regulatory factors
- Review constructability and provide construction support services
- Ensure compliance with applicable jurisdictional codes, standards, and procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
- California Professional Civil Engineer (PE) license required (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- 8–12 years of relevant civil engineering experience (12–15 years equivalent work experience acceptable)
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience supervising technical staff
- Proven project management skills and the ability to lead complex engineering projects
- Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making abilities
- Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D required
- In-depth knowledge of California codes, standards, and procedures preferred
Additional Skills
- Strong working knowledge of engineering principles and project management practices
- Ability to direct, plan, and guide design teams with clear goals and accountability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate, manage client relationships, and represent the firm professionally
- Proficiency in CAD for preparing exhibits, studies, and final plans
