Job Details

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams and provide oversight for the design, development, and delivery of civil engineering projects
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, construction documents, and contracts
  • Oversee field coordination and construction support activities
  • Prepare contracts, fee proposals, and scopes of work
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, public agencies, and internal staff
  • Provide mentorship and direction to engineering and design staff
  • Perform conceptual/preliminary design studies considering zoning, land use, infrastructure, and regulatory factors
  • Review constructability and provide construction support services
  • Ensure compliance with applicable jurisdictional codes, standards, and procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
  • California Professional Civil Engineer (PE) license required (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • 8–12 years of relevant civil engineering experience (12–15 years equivalent work experience acceptable)
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience supervising technical staff
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to lead complex engineering projects
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making abilities
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D required
  • In-depth knowledge of California codes, standards, and procedures preferred

Additional Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of engineering principles and project management practices
  • Ability to direct, plan, and guide design teams with clear goals and accountability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate, manage client relationships, and represent the firm professionally
  • Proficiency in CAD for preparing exhibits, studies, and final plans
