We’re working with a successful and growing, multi-disciplinary design & build consultancy in Portsmouth looking to appoint a Principal Structural Engineer to play a key role within the business.

This is a great opportunity for either an established Principal or a Senior Structural Engineer ready to step up. You’ll take ownership of projects, lead from a technical perspective and support the wider team across a varied and interesting workload.

You’ll have plenty of autonomy, a strong level of trust and the backing of an established consultancy without unnecessary layers of red tape.

The Role

• Lead structural projects from concept through to completion
• Act as the key technical lead within the team
• Mentor and support junior engineers
• Deliver designs, calculations and technical documentation
• Manage client relationships and represent the business professionally
• Support tenders, surveys and feasibility work
• Ensure compliance with current standards and regulations
• Work with BIM / 3D modelling tools to deliver efficiently

What They’re Looking For

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Strong experience across structural design projects
• Chartered or working towards (IStructE)
• Good working knowledge of UK regulations and standards
• Confident dealing with clients and stakeholders
• Experience with software such as Revit, AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Able to run projects and take ownership
• Ability to gain Security Clearance

Nice to Have

• MEng or similar
• BIM experience
• Project/contract exposure

• £65,000 – £75,000 depending on experience
