This role serves as a key technical leader responsible for defining, designing, and governing the organization’s Microsoft 365 architecture. This role drives the strategic direction, standardization, and evolution of the M365 platform across the enterprise.

The role encompasses enterprise architecture across Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, security & compliance solutions, identity platforms, and automation frameworks.

The ideal candidate brings deep architectural expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and proven experience designing and governing large-scale Microsoft 365 environments, including tenant consolidation, security frameworks, and cloud transformation initiatives.

This role, while centred on the M365 expertise – particularly SharePoint- is part of a global team of highly skilled system engineers and architects delivering a broad spectrum of server services. Consequently, the responsibilities of this position may evolve or expand over time.

Responsibilities

Architecture & Strategy

• Define and own the enterprise architecture for Microsoft 365, with a strong focus on SharePoint and collaboration platforms
• Design scalable, secure, and resilient solutions across collaboration, identity, and productivity services
• Lead tenant strategy (consolidation, separation, M&A integration) and drive M365 roadmap aligned with business objectives
• Establish and enforce architecture standards, governance models, and best practices across the M365 ecosystem
• Drive enterprise collaboration solutions (SharePoint intranet, Teams) ensuring scalability, usability, and adoption

Governance & Compliance

• Define and oversee governance frameworks for Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive (lifecycle, provisioning, access)
• Lead security and compliance architecture (DLP, retention, eDiscovery) aligned with regulatory and risk requirements
• Implement Zero Trust principles leveraging identity protection, Conditional Access, and MFA

Platform Integration & Automation

• Define integration architecture between Microsoft 365 and enterprise platforms (HRIS, ITSM, security tools)
• Drive automation strategy for identity lifecycle, provisioning, and governance using APIs and scripting

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• Partner with infrastructure, security, and business teams to deliver aligned solutions
• Engage senior stakeholders to translate business needs into strategic architecture decisions

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in IT architecture, with deep expertise in Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online
• Proven track record in defining and leading enterprise SharePoint architecture (intranet, document management, collaboration platforms) at scale
• Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online) with a SharePoint-centric design approach
• Experience establishing governance frameworks for SharePoint and M365 (lifecycle, provisioning, information architecture, adoption)
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft 365 security and compliance (DLP, retention, eDiscovery) aligned with enterprise risk requirements
• Strong understanding of identity and access management (Azure AD / Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA) within a Zero Trust model
• Experience driving automation and standardization using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API
• Proven ability to define integration architecture between SharePoint and enterprise platforms (HRIS, ITSM, business applications)
• Strong leadership in driving platform strategy, roadmap, and best practices across global organizations
• Ability to engage senior stakeholders and translate business needs into scalable, secure collaboration solutions
