About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide design solutions and assessments for new, updated, and modified process systems, structures, and components.
  • Prepare and/or review design documents for Nuclear Power Plants, e.g., Design Calculation, Design Requirements, Assessments, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, and System Code Classification.
  • Perform thermohydraulic evaluations on complex systems.
  • Prepare and/or review Engineering Quotation Request and Tender Technical Evaluations.
  • Prepare and/or review Engineering packages.
  • Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required.
  • Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Ensure adherence to company quality program.
  • Ensure adherence to project delivery requirements and schedule.
  • Support Engineering Management with timely updates on engineering progress.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders as required.

Qualifications

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or Engineering Science.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in process-system design/analysis, preferably providing design solutions for CANDU nuclear power plants or BWR/PWR markets.
  • Experience performing heat balance and thermohydraulic evaluations.
  • Experience in process system design and layout.
  • Knowledge of analytical tools used for mechanical and process design (e.g., ANSYS, Mathcad, Flomaster, NUCIRC, CATHENA or similar).
  • Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA B51 standard, ASME Section III, ASME B31.1 codes.
  • Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards or regulatory guides, including CSA N285.0 is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset.
  • Experience performing work to nuclear power plant procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plant engineering activities is an asset.
  • Eligible for Security Clearance through PWGSC.
