About Our Client

Our client is a leading manufacturer of custom-built metal fabricated welded heavy industrial equipment and have a job open for Process Improvement Manager in the Trenton – Belleville - Kingston, ON area. Candidates will work closest to the manufacturing and improve processes. This is on site 5 days a week. This is a leadership role, prior experience of formal performance management, coaching mentoring leadership is a MUST. CI experience from Heavy industrial Welding type processes is a MUST. This is a role for those who have independently and proactively looked for projects to improve costs, efficiencies improved plant layout and set up lines from scratch in a slow custom fabrication environment.

The Role

Process Improvement Manager is a newly created hands-on role to liaison between design engineering and production to ensure all custom build designs can be built on the floor with optimal efficiencies and reduced costs. You will define process flow, plant layout, line set up, reach out to OEMs and vendors for any equipment needs for capital projects, perform time and labour studies, define standards , write revise SOPs and provide leadership coaching mentoring and performance management of 5-6 manufacturing engineers. This is a very manual process and the company is starting its journey towards Lean and Continuous Improvement, hence your passion to drive change is important. This is role-up-the-sleeve environment .

Responsibilities

  • Define process flow, plant layout, line set up
  • Reach out to OEMs and vendors for any equipment needs for capital projects
  • Perform time and labour studies
  • Define standards
  • Write revise SOPs
  • Provide leadership coaching mentoring and performance management of 5-6 manufacturing engineers
  • Directly contact OEMs for proposals
  • Work closely with the BOM material team to ensure change orders are incorporated
  • Work closely with New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure all designs blueprints are manufactured as per spec
  • Document any specification changes, engineering changes
  • Create process flow

Qualifications

  • Process Improvement Manager will ideally have 4-5 years’ experience in CUSTOM FABRICATION welding type projects like automated Robotic welding, fabrication line set up Industrial Engineers, Process Engineers, for Heavy Equipment custom fabrication, military, agricultural, large cranes and similar .
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Industrial Engineering or similar are highly preferred
  • Established experience in improving welding processes is a MUST
  • Excellent English communication skills are a MUST
  • An ability to work independently / in teams is a MUST
  • Clear Criminal check is required

Requirements

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: 90K – 125K base
