About

The Process / Mechanical Principal Engineer provides technical leadership and direction for complex engineering projects involving process and mechanical systems. This role leads multidisciplinary engineering efforts and ensures technical excellence across all phases of project execution.

The position serves as a senior technical authority, supporting project planning, design, and execution within regulated environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and technical direction to engineering teams while overseeing design development and project execution.
  • Plan and coordinate engineering activities.
  • Review and approve design calculations, specifications, and P&IDs.
  • Ensure technical accuracy across all deliverables.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, project management, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Support procurement activities.
  • Review construction documentation.
  • Provide guidance during construction and startup phases.

Work Hours

  • A standard 40-hour work week is expected.
  • Overtime may be required to meet project deliverables.

Required Qualifications – Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering required.
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of related engineering experience.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical and process system design.
  • Strong leadership experience supporting complex engineering projects.
  • Expertise in P&IDs, specifications, and engineering calculations.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes and standards.
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills.

Other Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided drafting applications.
  • Ability to work in compliance with applicable codes and project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience supporting DOE or Federal Government projects.
  • Nuclear project experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large engineering efforts.
