Product Design Engineer

Kodu

France · On-site Contract 5d ago

About the role

Most product engineers spend their careers optimising existing products. At Koroyd, the Product Design Engineer, Advanced Concepts is doing something different: taking materials science outputs and turning them into testable proof-of-concepts that feed the next generation of impact-protection technology. Monaco-based, €50,000–55,000, with one WFH day per week and annual bonus.

Scope of the Role

This is a new position within Koroyd’s R&D and Advanced Concepts function. The Product Design Engineer, Advanced Concepts takes materials science outputs from the R&D team and turns them into testable proof-of-concepts that could become the next generation of Koroyd products. • Take R&D and materials science outputs and identify where they could work as products or product features. • Build proof-of-concept prototypes: CAD models and early-stage physical builds for lab evaluation and testing. • Define and run structured validation programmes, working with the Test and Validation team on impact, thermal and user-trial studies. • Conduct market scanning, competitor teardowns and benchmarking to identify where Koroyd technology meets unmet needs. • Hand de-risked concepts to the NPD team for industrialisation, maintaining continuity and technical context throughout.

Key Skills and Experience Required • Proven experience as a Product Design Engineer, Advanced Concepts Engineer, or R&D Engineer with hands-on design and CAD skills. • A track record of concept development through to physical prototyping and structured testing. Not just concept generation. • Proven familiarity with plastics and structural components: injection moulding, foams, extrusions and similar processes. • Comfortable running or contributing to user studies, lab tests and validation programmes. This is not a desk-only role. • A curious mindset when working at the intersection of materials science and product engineering.

You must have the right to work in France. EU passport holders are strongly preferred.

Salary and Benefits • €50,000–55,000 • Monaco-based, one day per week from home after probation • Occasional travel to test facilities in Italy and industry events • New 1,400m² facility with dedicated lab space, impact rigs, thermal testing and 3D printing

Koroyd has spent fifteen years building patented impact-absorption technology used in helmets across cycling, skiing, motorsport and industrial safety. Acquired by Mips in December 2025, the business now has more resource, a larger facility and a global salesforce. The Product Design Engineer joining this team works alongside a polymer chemist and a technically serious NPD function in Monaco. This is not blue-sky research. The innovation has a commercial landing zone.
