Assembled

About the role

About Assembled

Great customer support requires human agents and AI in perfect balance, and Assembled is the only unified platform that orchestrates both at scale. Companies like Canva, Etsy, and Robinhood use Assembled to coordinate their entire support operation — in-house agents, BPOs, and AI — in a single operating system. With AI Agents that resolve cases end-to-end, AI Copilot for agent assistance, and AI‑powered workforce management that optimizes both human and AI capacity, Assembled helps teams deliver faster, better service while making smarter decisions about how to staff and automate. Backed by $70M from NEA, Emergence Capital, and Stripe, we're building the platform that makes AI and human collaboration actually work.

We’re looking for a product designer to join our AI support product teams, with a focus on designing and building AI‑backed customer support experiences, both from the perspective of our customers, and our customers’ customers — the people who need support. We believe in a future where AI and people work together to solve problems, and Assembled’s role is to be the orchestration layer that improves support experiences by having the right technology and the right people in the right place at the right time.

Responsibilities

  • Create, refine, and iterate on significant new products and features for AI‑backed support and support operations. Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders. Help clarify problems, shape solutions, and deliver measurable business impact.
  • Mentor other designers. Play an active role in growing the craft of product design at Assembled and improving our UX team and culture.
  • Deeply understand our users. Help others understand what different users need, and what they find satisfying and frustrating. Lead critical research and share findings to build understanding of user needs with colleagues.
  • Be the steward of our product experience. Design major experiences across our product, creating patterns that are intuitive and durable, and help raise our standards of excellence.
  • Improve our visual and interaction design. Contribute regularly to our design system and collaborate with others to improve industry standards for workplace software design.

About You

  • 5+ years experience in B2B software design. Excited to work in complex domains, able to distill ideas from many sources into useful primitives, and make reasonable trade‑offs between simplicity and flexibility.
  • Zero‑to‑one mindset. Eager to iterate quickly in a collaborative environment, balancing scope, speed, and quality.
  • Calm under pressure. Able to help steer teams and projects toward better, more efficient outcomes.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. Quickly get up to speed in active projects, identify what’s needed, and push things forward even when the path isn’t fully defined.
  • Hungry and motivated. Determined to build something exciting and meaningful, and know what great looks like.
  • Customer driven. Love talking to users, understanding their needs and desires, and helping others understand them too. Keep projects organized around what users actually need.
  • Detail oriented. Skilled in designing complex workflows and interactions, experienced with data and data visualization, and thoughtful about visual design.
  • Technically curious and AI cognizant. Aptitude for web front‑end technology, curious and informed about AI capabilities (and limits). Work effectively with engineers to build great software; experience and enthusiasm for making changes to code is an asset.
  • Comfortable designing for the system. Confident with Figma and accustomed to designing and building reusable, extensible web components. Experience with React is a bonus.
