Job Description

As a Product Designer at Accenture South Africa, you will lead multidisciplinary initiatives that align user needs, business goals, and technological possibilities. Your role goes beyond UX and UI execution, encompassing product strategy, scalable design practices, and AI-driven innovation. You will play a pivotal part in guiding design teams, shaping strong client relationships, and positioning design as a catalyst for measurable business outcomes. The role demands foresight to create sustainable, tangible solutions that can be tested, validated, and seamlessly embedded into people’s daily lives, ensuring both immediate impact and long-term value.

Responsibilities

Design Leadership & Delivery • Lead design workstreams and ensure high-quality outputs across UX, UI, and interaction design (Level 9). • Oversee multidisciplinary design teams and manage delivery across multiple projects or platforms (Level 8). • Drive large-scale, multi-market design programmes that integrate strategy, design, and technology (Level 7).

Strategy & Vision • Translate insights into user stories, flows, and tangible design deliverables (Level 9). • Influence product roadmaps, define scalable design practices, and embed human-centred design (Level 8). • Define and evolve design vision, embedding systematic practices across organisations and markets (Level 7).

Stakeholder & Client Engagement • Present design decisions clearly, using storytelling to influence stakeholders (Level 9). • Shape client relationships, ensuring design aligns with business goals and measurable value (Level 8). • Act as the primary partner to senior executives, framing design as a driver of business transformation (Level 7).

Systems & Innovation • Apply and evolve design systems to ensure accessibility, consistency, and scalability (Level 9). • Implement governance models, design operations, and AI-enabled workflows (Level 8). • Champion design innovation at scale, driving adoption of AI and identifying new opportunities for growth (Level 7).

Team Development & Culture • Mentor junior designers on craft, process, and stakeholder engagement (Level 9). • Coach and develop teams to balance strategic thinking with executional excellence (Level 8). • Build and grow design capability, culture, and talent pipelines across the organisation (Level 7).

Activities

As a Product Designer, you will be hands-on in shaping and delivering user-centred digital products. Your activities will span research, design, collaboration, delivery, and continuous evolution of products. 1. User Research & Analysis • Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, and usability testing to uncover needs, behaviours, and pain points. • Analyse qualitative and quantitative data (research insights, analytics, and market trends) to inform design decisions. • Create and maintain user personas, journey maps, and empathy maps to ensure design solutions align with target audiences. • Perform competitor benchmarking and best practice analysis to identify opportunities for differentiation and optimisation.

2. Interaction Design • Define information architecture to structure content and functionality for clarity and ease of use. • Map and design browsing flows that allow users to intuitively explore products and complete tasks. • Develop low- to mid-fidelity wireframes that establish structure, hierarchy, and interaction notes with detailed specifications. • Create interaction models that describe how users engage with an interface, ensuring behaviours and responses feel intuitive.

3. Visual Design & Prototyping • Design polished, functional, and accessible interfaces that align with the product vision and user needs. • Apply systematic design practices, contributing to and extending enterprise design systems and UI libraries. • Iterate on design solutions based on feedback from users, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. • Build interactive prototypes to test and validate design concepts, ensuring seamless and engaging experiences.

4. Collaboration & Communication • Work closely with Product Owners and stakeholders to refine requirements, align design with business goals, and prioritise features. • Partner with Developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs, providing specifications, guidance, and clarifications. • Actively participate in agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives) to keep design integrated into delivery. • Present and articulate design concepts and rationale to teams and stakeholders, adapting communication styles for technical and non-technical audiences. • Create case study assets and showcases that highlight the value of design, reinforcing its impact within the organisation and with clients. • Support business development by contributing to bids, proposals, and pitch materials, demonstrating how design can generate value and differentiate Accenture’s offering.

5. Testing & Validation • Plan and conduct usability testing to validate design concepts and uncover improvement opportunities. • Collaborate with Product Owners, Developers, and Data Analysts to design and run A/B tests, using data to guide design refinements. • Incorporate insights from testing, feedback, and analytics to optimise experiences against user needs and business KPIs.

6. Continuous Improvement • Stay up to date with emerging design trends, tools, and methodologies, applying them to enhance practice. • Advocate for user-centred, inclusive design across the product lifecycle, ensuring accessibility and equity are built in. • Contribute to retrospectives and team reflections, identifying opportunities to improve workflows, tools, and ways of working.
