Job Summary
Bumpa is redefining commerce in Africa by building the infrastructure that is powering digital commerce on the continent for business owners (BOs). We are looking for a Mid-Level Product Designer who is passionate about solving real problems for entrepreneurs and creating thoughtful, intuitive product experiences. As a Mid-Level Product Designer at Bumpa, you will play a key role in shaping the experience of products used daily by thousands of business owners. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to design solutions that balance user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility. You will take ownership of features from discovery through delivery, helping to define problems, explore solutions, validate ideas, and ship high-quality designs and make improvements after launch. This role is ideal for a designer who combines strong UX and UI design skills with product thinking, user empathy and attention to details.
Job Details
Key Responsibilities:
Product Design & Execution
Design end-to-end user experiences for Bumpa’s web and mobile products
Translate product requirements and user insights into intuitive design solutions
Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity interface designs
Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure accurate implementation of designs
Continuously iterate on features based on feedback, product data, and user insights
User Research & Insights
Participate in user research activities such as interviews, usability testing, and feedback sessions
Identify user pain points and opportunities to improve product experiences
Use qualitative and quantitative insights to inform design decisions
Collaboration
Work closely with Product Managers to define product requirements and shape product strategy
Work closely with the customer support and product teams to uncover friction points and make continuous design improvements across products based on data and user feedback.
Partner with engineers during product development to ensure usability and design quality
Communicate design ideas clearly through presentations, prototypes, and documentation
Contribute actively to product discussions and solution ideation
Design Systems & Consistency
Contribute to the development and maintenance of Bumpa’s design system
Ensure visual and interaction consistency across all product surfaces
Advocate for usability, accessibility, and high design standards across the product
Requirements
Qualifications and skills:
Required:3–5 years of experience in product design, UX design, or digital product design
Experience designing mobile and web applications
Proven ability to work on products from concept to launch
Experience collaborating closely with product and engineering teams
Skills
Strong portfolio demonstrating product thinking, UX process, and visual design
Proficiency with modern design tools such as Figma
Ability to simplify complex workflows into clear and usable interfaces
Strong understanding of interaction design, usability, and information architecture
Ability to present and communicate design decisions clearly
Strong user empathy, especially for business owners and entrepreneurs
Curiosity and willingness to learn from users, data, and feedback
Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
