About the Role
The Design System Manager is responsible for the management, governance, evolution, and adoption of a design system within an organization. They act as a bridge between design, development, product, and sometimes marketing teams, to ensure the visual and functional consistency of interfaces throughout the digital product lifecycle.
This is a hybrid role at the intersection of design, front-end, product strategy, and leadership. Depending on the company size, it can be very operational (design tokens, components) or more strategic (roadmap, governance, adoption, design culture).
Responsibilities (Client-side Design System):
- Identify, analyze, and prioritize team needs regarding processes, tools, collaboration, and design culture.
- Implement or lead necessary changes to ensure designers work in optimal conditions. "Human & People first."
- Coordinate the design, technical, and product teams, connecting all groups and ensuring interdependencies are understood, accepted, and planned effectively.
- Support the scaling of design: organization, recruitment, processes, etc.
- Collaborate closely with the team's lead designers to define the strategy.
- Develop and manage design roadmaps, including resources, timelines, and identification of new design programs.
- Support design top management in making key decisions regarding projects: needs gathering, roadmap, resource management, and coordination of teams and approval processes.
- Define and create processes for receiving and prioritizing design needs.
- Support the product design cycle: from discovery to design and production.
- Liaise with internal partners from various departments.
Internal Role (Frontguys):
