Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, the position of Product Engineering Manager is responsible for a leader in the development of structured product maps that align engineering execution with business strategy. This role sits at the intersection of product management, engineering, and design—turning complex ideas into clear, actionable roadmaps and system-level product architectures.
You will play a critical role in defining what we build, why we build it, and how it all connects, ensuring teams are aligned around a cohesive product vision.
Key Responsibilities
Product Mapping & Strategy
- Develop and maintain comprehensive product maps that visualize features, dependencies, and system architecture
- Translate business goals into structured product frameworks and engineering plans
- Identify gaps, overlaps, and opportunities across product lines
Product Documentation & Collateral Management
- Review, update, and maintain all product Installation Manuals, Application Guides, and Price Lists in collaboration with the Project Coordinator
- Create and manage a master product system from finalized product map through to product launch
- Maintain product update trackers to ensure deadlines and milestones are met
- Author and standardize product content across all collateral to ensure consistency and clarity
- Implement and validate updates from Product Management, Sales, Dealers, Engineering, Procurement, and R&D, ensuring cohesive materials
- Ensure all Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and New Product Revisions (NPR) are accurately and promptly reflected in all documentation
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Product Managers, Designers, Engineering, Procurement, R&D, and Production teams to align priorities and execution
- Facilitate planning sessions to build shared understanding of product direction
- Act as a central point of contact to provide accurate information and solutions across departments
Technical Project Management
- Lead and manage technical product initiatives from concept through launch
- Assess whether current and new products meet required standards and specifications
- Process and manage custom product requests or “specials” as needed
- Develop budgets, cost estimates, and resource plans
- Define schedules, timelines, deliverables, and milestones
- Drive strong decision-making to ensure quality, performance, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
Engineering Oversight
- Guide engineering teams in implementing scalable, modular systems aligned with product maps
- Ensure technical decisions support long-term product evolution and maintainability
- Review product designs, specifications, and architecture with a product-first mindset
Stakeholder Support & Solutions
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide accurate guidance on:
- Product specifications
- Product alternatives and substitutions
- Claims and issue resolution
- Bid and tender scenarios
Team Leadership
- Oversee and mentor a small team (1–3 employees), providing guidance, support, and performance management
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
Experience & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in engineering, product management, or a related technical role
- 2+ years of leadership or team management experience preferred
- Strong understanding of product development lifecycle, system design, and manufacturing processes
- Experience in creating product maps, technical documentation, and cross-functional product artifacts
