The Position
As a Product Manager in the Industrial Solutions, Lubricants & Energy Business Unit, you will be responsible for supplier and product management, particularly in the Lubricants sector. You will build strong relationships with our suppliers and play a key role in our growth. Acting as a liaison between suppliers and our Sales Team, you will ensure the transfer of technical know-how, making a valuable contribution to our team and Business Unit. You will also be significantly involved in marketing activities. As part of IMCD Germany, you will have the opportunity to make a difference, working closely with international Product Managers and our global Business Groups to actively shape our product portfolio.
Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Maintaining contact with existing suppliers, negotiating purchasing prices and conditions, and planning volumes, margins, and deliveries.
- Exchanging information and coordinating with the international Product Management Team, the global Business Group, the Sales Team, and our customers.
- Monitoring trends, markets, and competitors, including creating market studies and marketing plans.
- Supporting strategic projects and business development in coordination with the Sales Team.
- Acquiring and integrating new suppliers to expand the product portfolio and take over new products and customers for active management.
- Successfully introducing new products from existing suppliers into active management.
- Acting as a liaison and knowledge transfer point between international raw material producers and our sales team.
- Creating budgets and forecasts, and performing actual vs. target control.
- Managing profitability and optimizing inventory levels.
What You Bring
- A completed degree in a technical, scientific, or commercial field, or a comparable qualification.
- Many years of professional experience in sales, purchasing, or product management within the chemical raw materials/specialty chemicals sector for industrial applications, ideally in lubricants.
- Enjoyment of contact and negotiation with suppliers, along with strong teamwork skills.
- A "hunter" mentality with the drive to achieve and exceed goals.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as persuasive ability.
- High commitment and initiative, an independent and structured way of working, and a solution-oriented approach.
- An affinity for actively supporting digitalization processes.
- Very good written and spoken German and English skills.
- Enjoyment of travel within Germany and occasionally within Europe.
