The Product Manager owns the vision and strategy, roadmap, and feature definition for a product within a product group. Responsibilities include writing stories to define outcomes and product requirements, planning and managing product features through the development process, managing the product backlog, and making product‑related decisions based on user and stakeholder needs. The role identifies and manages work independently while collaborating with internal and external partners.


Essential Job Functions

User Insight & Product Definition

  • Develop a solid understanding of the business and product areas, and relevant data to inform decisions
  • Define the product, identify gaps and user needs, and create vision, strategy, and requirements documents
  • Utilize available data to identify user needs
  • Perform experiments and participate in primary research to uncover additional user value

Product Portfolio Management

  • Develop, manage, and own the product roadmap at the product level
  • Make trade‑off decisions for the product
  • Demonstrate expertise within the product area
  • Build partnerships with relevant stakeholder teams
  • Coordinate with interdependent teams
  • Build and leverage relationships with business and product stakeholders, UI/UX, architecture, and technology teams to facilitate product and user success

Product Planning & Prioritization

  • Lead the product planning process by developing requirements documents (user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases) for a product or release
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog based on defined user value, aligning with product strategy and resource capacity; use data and analytics to prioritize appropriately
  • Work closely with UI/UX to set direction for the design of the user experience
  • Determine release goals, prioritization, implementation, and iteration plans according to user value

Product Development

  • Facilitate the development process by reviewing demos with the technology team and validating acceptance criteria
  • Provide UX/UI approval for the assigned product
  • Track development work and identify bugs at the product level
  • Identify issues that could delay delivery or affect quality, assess alternatives, build a resolution plan, and communicate to leadership

Launch

  • Lead product launches by working with stakeholders to develop launch plans
  • Identify issues and blockers that may delay launch, present alternatives to leadership
  • Coordinate formal UAT where necessary
  • Develop product documentation and training materials for users
  • Track and report on launch metrics, using feedback to drive actions and iteration
  • Lead post‑launch reviews and incorporate feedback into future releases

Operate

  • Work with internal and external teams and users to identify, classify, and resolve product‑level user issues
  • Identify new methods and metrics for tracking product success; collaborate with technology team to improve reports and monitoring
  • Work with stakeholder teams to actively monitor metrics
  • Track performance trends, gather user feedback, determine product gaps, development opportunities, and, if needed, product end‑of‑life plans
  • Represent the team in product‑level discussions with stakeholders
  • Attend business reviews, supply product/feature results, and provide input into business cases for new products/features

Team Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide coaching and guidance to junior‑level product management team members
  • Follow, understand, and apply relevant industry trends, research, and best practices in technology and product management

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Communications, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 5 years of experience in product management, project management, business analysis, program management, or product marketing
  • 3 years of experience in product and/or experience management
  • Strong writing ability
  • Strong business acumen
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Experience working cross‑functionally in a large organization
  • Experience working closely with senior leadership
  • Experience translating data into quantifiable actions/deliverables

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or similar advanced degree
  • CSPO Certification
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry
  • Strong financial acumen

Requirements
