Duties & Responsibilities
REPORTING TO THE BUSINESS UNIT MANAGER: PU & FLOTATION
JOB PURPOSE:
To manage the productivity of the Production Department
JOB FUNCTION:
Safety & Compliance:
- OHSACT is implemented as per standard requirements
- All non-conformances are managed, captured on system and closed out to prevent re-occurrences
- QMS under jurisdiction is maintained according to organisational standards
- Zero lost time injuries. If required, injured personnel are accompanied to hospital and all paperwork is completed and submitted as per company policy
Cost Management:
- Strict control of production consumables is maintained and minimum use of overtime is applied
Managed Department:
- Budgets are monitored monthly and manpower capabilities for the department are planned, selected and developed
- Company HR and Disciplinary policy is adhered to
- Policies, standards and procedures for the work performed in the department are developed and maintained
- Technical direction is provided according to staff needs
- MDW is implemented as per company requirements
Production Planning:
- Customer delivery dates are achieved (90%)
- Manufacturing processes and equipment are upgraded where applicable
- Verify adequate quantities of raw materials & consumables are available for production
- Production planning as per JDE Report or the weekly production schedule
- Production targets are set with Supervisor and prioritised accordingly
- Machinery is inspected and repairs completed when required
- Maintenance is liaised with on a daily basis on downtime experienced and control thereof
- Quality upgrades of moulds, machinery and jigs as required
- Mould and jig QC and maintenance of Critical Equipment
- Quality upgrades on all jigs and portable equipment
- Measuring equipment and scales to be calibrated
- Team’s legal compliance training are completed timeously before any licensing lapses
Reports:
- Incidents on design issues are loaded the same day
- Overtime is reported on weekly to the Business Unit Manager
- All training requirements are reported on to the Management
Desired Experience & Qualification
QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12
- National diploma in Production Management
- 5 years management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Can build a successful team, problem solver, good planning, organising, communication skills, has high quality work standards, initiates safey awareness and quality orientated
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel and Outlook)
- JDE would be advantageous
- Displays knowledge of raw materials, production processes and other techniques for maximising the effective manufacture of goods
- Displays knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repair and maintenance
