Job Profile

Guide, lead and reinforce the formulation, development and communication of group-wide, business optimisation and organisational change strategies and initiatives that support and enable the achievement of the Necsa Group Vision aligned to the company’s Group Strategic Plan and overall Turnaround Strategy.

Key Performance Areas:

Strategy – Strategy Formulation & Strategic Business Planning- Business Improvement and Organisational Strategy

  • Conceptualise, Design, Analyse Formulate Review, Lead, Establish & Performance Manage (Control).
  • Determine, define and develop the short-, medium- and long-term goals to make sure the company’s, the departmental, the subsidiaries and the individual’s executional output, efforts and performance falls in line with the Necsa Group goals.
  • Determine, define, develop, analyse, direct and establish strategies and process compliance optimisation across the regulatory, operations and management workflow, processes and systems.
  • Lead/Oversees industry-specific practices and ensures all government and company regulations are being met.
  • Direct/Manage and monitor preparation, submission and review of submitted corporate and/or business/SBU’s strategies.
  • Lead a portfolio of services that includes the review, analysis, formulation, integration and alignment of business strategies and functional strategies in terms of business, market development & strategic direction in line with specialisation.
  • Translate the strategy and develop plans to materialise strategy and analyse business proposals.
  • Ensure alignment of processes, resources-planning and department goals with overall strategy.
  • Lead in the Assessment of the company’s operational and strategic performance.
  • Responsible for planning, controlling, and leading in the research of competition to identify threats and opportunities.
  • Works closely with and acts as sounding board/thinking partner to Head: Business & Improvement.
  • Provide leadership, management, support and insight into significant organisational changes in line with specialization.
  • Provides oversight and Assists in the educating of senior executives, managers and personnel in making effective decisions.
  • Responsible for planning, controlling, and conducting research and data analysis to inform business decisions.
  • Lead in the development and delivery of forecasts and analytical models.
  • Lead and manage the Monitoring and analysis of industry trends and market changes.

Performance – Performance Monitoring & Strategic Risk - Strategic Business Improvement

Determine, Define, Lead, Direct and Establish:

Directing Management Decision Making

  • Lead/direct the analysis of the formulation, development, translation, and implementation of the overall Necsa Group organisational, divisional strategies.
  • Establish Balances Scorecard Management (Strategy Management).
  • Determine process optimisation input to the Necsa Group production value chain.
  • Define and determine input into the business, operational and organisational Model design to support process and value optimisation for sustainability.

Determining Process, Reliability and Capability

  • Determine and establish Strategy Operationalisation in line with specialisation.
  • Lead on the development and defining of frameworks for performance evaluation in line with specialisation.
  • Responsible for assessing the department's operational and strategic performance.
  • Lead the tracking of performance.
  • Provide process optimisation input to the Necsa Group production value chain.

Strategic Initiatives Management

  • Analyse the Development and delivery of the business planning cycle for various business units and/or operating companies in line with specialisation.
  • Analyse or develop, and improve on plans to coordinate and integrate the business planning cycle.
  • Ensuring the measurement and tracking of performance via Balanced Scorecard or any other performance management methodology.
  • Lead, develop, promote, and support Business Performance Process Re-Engineering Improvement in line with specialisation.
  • Provide input into the business, operational, and organisational Model design to support process and value optimisation for change and sustainability.

Safety, Risk and Compliance Management

  • Direct Nuclear License conditions improvements, approval conditions changes/inputs and SHEQ implementation changes through the relevant committees.
  • Assist in SHEQ Audits if required.

Productivity – Strategic Insights

Develop, Plan and Nurture opportunities to support sustainable growth:

  • Market Development - Identifying, analysing and mapping opportunities for growth aligned to the Strategic Plan & Business Case Development and analysis.
  • Undertake Inorganic growth initiatives – strategic alliances, etc.
  • Provide clear, balanced, and accurate advice and guidance to the Head: Business & Improvement, on key strategic issues and challenges.
  • Work collegiately with executives, senior managers, and managers and make a proactive contribution, delivering objectives which impact positively on the company.
  • Support and develop partnership working, including acting as an effective advocate with external organisations and shareholders when necessary.

Organisational and People Performance Leadership:

  • Develop Analyst Reports.
  • Provide Market Insights in line with specialisation.
  • Develop Trend Forecasting.
  • Provide Business Intelligence.
  • Lead and provide Competitive Benchmarking.
  • Mentors and develop company’s capability, if and when required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

KEY KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Awareness of regulatory and compliance landscape.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the evolution of nuclear facilities (e.g Necsa/NTP’s) Licencing Strategies referenced to regulations, legislation, and global benchmarks, and the workflow analytics of its impact on business process optimisation for sustainability with respect to:
    • Nuclear Compliance, Regulatory & Security Processes & Systems alignment, specifically in relation to NNR, IAEA, DWS,DEA, SSA benchmarks.
    • Business, Organisational: Review, Analysis, Design and Implementation Strategies.
    • Financial and Procurement Systems geared for Safety aligned to PFMA.
  • Advanced knowledge of the following MS Office programmes: Ms-Word; Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook;
  • Presentation skills.
  • Report writing skills.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • B-degree in Engineering
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Business Studies would be advantageous.

Experience:

  • 7 years in a productivity optimisation type exposure and 3 years Functional and/or cross-functional Management experience (e.g. Finance and/or Sales and/or Marketing and/or Corporate Affairs and/or Strategic Communication).
  • Proven track-record in managing within a state-owned enterprise.
