The University of Wuppertal is a dynamic, networked and research-oriented campus university with more than 25,000 researchers, academic staff and students. The university invites applications for a professorship in Computer Science with a specialisation in Data Analytics, based in the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
The professorship will strengthen the research area Artificial Intelligence for Empowering the Future, one of the university’s four strategic focus areas. It will play a leading role in the Interdisciplinary Centre for Machine Learning and Data Analytics, collaborating with various research groups and technology companies. The university offers an excellent environment for challenging research projects and collaborations, including the Collaborative Research Centre 1701 “port-Hamiltonian Systems” and experimental particle physics groups.
Duties and Requirements
- Develop the area of Data Analytics in research and teaching.
- Connect research with the existing Mathematics and Computer Sciences group.
- Contribute to the Collaborative Research Centre 1701 “Port‑Hamiltonian Systems.”
- Provide dedicated and high-quality teaching in computer sciences and related programmes.
- Experience in exploring innovative application areas is desirable.
- Successful track record of securing external funding is required.
Qualifications
- Completed university degree (master or equivalent) in Computer Sciences or related field.
- Special aptitude for academic work, usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate.
- Further relevant scientific achievements during a first professorship or equivalent positions.
- Pedagogical aptitude proven by experience or demonstrated in the appointment procedure.
- Achieve German language skills: B2 within first year, C1 within two years.
- Demonstrate qualification through publications, conference contributions, collaborations, and third-party funding acquisition.
