About the role

Introduction

Are you an experienced program leader with a track record of delivering large, complex initiatives? Our client is currently seeking to employ a Complex Program Delivery Lead to oversee a multi-year transformation program, ensuring that delivery is on time, within scope, and aligned to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Make sure all work is delivered on time, meets quality standards, and follows agreed requirements
  • Manage any changes to scope, timeline, or cost using formal change processes
  • Plan and manage all phases of the program, ensuring each release delivers value
  • Oversee delivery of key outputs, such as:
    • Functional and technical documents
    • Implementation plans
    • Testing results
    • Training materials
  • Set up and manage a Quality Management Plan
  • Track progress, quality, and completion using appropriate tools
  • Maintain a detailed project schedule (tasks, timelines, milestones, resources, dependencies)
  • Identify and manage:
    • Risks
    • Issues
    • Actions and mitigation plans
  • Define stakeholders and their roles
  • Run project and executive meetings, track decisions, and follow up on actions
  • Establish and manage program governance structures
  • Control and approve any changes affecting scope, timeline, or cost

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading large, complex, multi-phase programs
  • Strong background in planning and scheduling systems, especially in rail/freight environments
  • Experience with:
    • Program governance
    • Quality management
    • Formal acceptance processes
  • Ability to manage:
    • Multiple system integrations
    • Data across different systems
  • Strong track record in:
    • Risk and issue management
    • Executive-level reporting
    • Financial tracking linked to delivery milestones
  • Excellent:
    • Stakeholder management
    • Communication
    • Change leadership (including training teams)
  • Experience delivering in phases with clear acceptance criteria
  • Familiarity with Dassault Quintiq is a plus

Collaboration & Governance

  • Work closely with architects and IT teams to ensure systems are:
    • Secure
    • Reliable
    • High-performing
  • Provide guidance to business and technical teams
  • Support data migration from old systems to new systems
  • Report clearly on system design, risks, and decisions
  • Ensure:
    • Teams understand system constraints and assumptions
    • Any changes are properly reviewed and approved

Requirements
