Your Opportunity
The Program Manager, Academic Programs & Curriculum is a full‑time position shared between the University of Toronto Mississauga's Institute of Forensic Sciences and the Department of Anthropology. The Institute of Forensic Sciences (IFS) is designed to provide students with an understanding of scientific analyses, theories, laboratory skills, applications, and field techniques. Programs are offered in the fields of forensic anthropology, forensic biology, forensic chemistry, and forensic psychology.
UTM’s Department of Anthropology has strengths in all four traditional subfields of Anthropology: Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, Linguistic Anthropology and Sociocultural Anthropology, as well as in Forensic Anthropology and the Anthropology of Health. Anthropology bridges the Natural Sciences and the Social Sciences: We are one of the few Departments at UTM with both Science and Arts programs. Our holistic approach, in addition to the cross‑cultural knowledge gained in our programs, provide students with valuable skills that can be applied in many types of jobs.

Reporting to the Department Manager, the Program Manager is responsible for facilitating the strategic goals of the academic programs of both units by coordinating projects associated with comprehensive academic, administrative, and operational support for undergraduate and graduate programming in Anthropology and the IFS. The Program Manager plays a critical role in curriculum management and development, instructional support, work‑integrating learning coordination, teaching assistant organization, and space management. The position works closely with faculty, sessional lecturers, graduate students, internal and external partners and requires a consistent on‑site presence.
- Four (4) days a week on‑site
- 2‑year term, with the possibility of renewal
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Analyzing internal and external trends and recommending educational programming improvements
- Advising staff on program curriculum change policies and procedures
- Coordinating the preparation and distribution of program and/or course material
- Keeping well‑informed on changes to curriculum, schedules and program offerings and incorporating changes to lesson planning and delivery
- Evaluating and recommending appropriate work‑integrated learning opportunities for students
- Coordinating the recruitment of teaching assistants, course instructors, sessional lecturers and/or stipend instructors
- Handling sensitive and/or confidential information
- Providing orientation to new employees and/or students
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum five (5) years of experience, working in a post‑secondary environment
- Minimum two (2) years of demonstrated experience in academic program administration
- Minimum one (1) year of experience with Teaching Assistant (TA) administration, contract management, and payroll coordination
- Experience in successfully operating within a complex organization, with multiple stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience coordinating curriculum & program development opportunities
- Strong understanding of curriculum processes, instructional support, and student programming
- Familiarity supporting the development and ongoing oversight of course content, particularly for courses taught by sessional lecturers who may be industry professionals
- Proven track record of enhancing, fostering and managing strong relationships with a natural ability to collaborate with diverse groups
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment
- Support the development and ongoing oversight of course content, particularly for courses taught by sessional lecturers who may be industry professionals
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information and high‑risk environments
- Excellent computer skills (e.g. Access, Word, Excel, Power Point)
