Job Responsibilities

• Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organizing, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects and program launches within area of assigned responsibility.
• Acts as liaison between manufacturing, engineering, and the customer.
• Plans and formulates program and organizes project staff according to project requirements.
• Leads or assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, product testing, APQP documentation, financial analysis, process development, component sourcing, tool construction, program quoting, defect analysis and problem resolution, project timing, prototype and pilot build support, and packaging development.
• Ensures product design reviews for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements are completed.
• Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
• Manages integration of technical activities and products.
• Evaluates and approves design changes.
• Ensures evaluation of specifications and drawing releases.
• Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
• Controls tool builds with suppliers, reviews feasibility and tool designs with team.
• Prepares interim and completion project reports.
• Meets with stakeholders to facilitate communication regarding project issues and decisions.
• Understands responsibility for health and safety in the workplace and cooperates with OSHA inspectors.
• Wears appropriate personal protective equipment and follows all safety rules.
• Reports unsafe conditions, injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses, and property damage immediately.
• Does not remove or make ineffective any protective device such as a guard or light curtain.
• Does not use or operate any machine or equipment without training or in a manner that may endanger employees.
• Understands and follows existing Magna procedures, work instructions and standards and makes recommendations for continuous improvements.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to carry out projects from beginning to end in coordination with internal and external contacts.
• Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate projects, manage conflicting needs, and deal with many issues simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently under little or no supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts and represent the company professionally.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to exercise influence at various levels and functions.
• Ability to research and recommend new product/process program enhancements and participate in and initiate implementation of continuous improvement processes.
• Understanding of injection molding and tooling.
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
• Seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods of time.
• Must maintain proper vision requirements.
• Must be able to maintain alertness to their surroundings.
