About the role
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the Governance Oversight of the Portfolio Execution Governance of Portfolio
- Accountable for adherence of Portfolio to the Banks governance including processes, reporting and governance committees
- Responsible for preparation and running monthly Portfolio Governance Committee; reporting Portfolio status/health, key highlights that require management attention and providing value-add insights and recommendations to Executive level
- Responsible for monitoring risks & issues at Portfolio level and providing timely & clear visibility where support is required to Senior Management and Executive Committees
- Ability to provide value-add insights and recommendations at Portfolio level to senior management up to and including Executive Committee level on an on-going basis
- System adoption monitoring and benefits realisation tracking.
- Ensure optimized Investment and Resource Allocation
- Establish governance frameworks that ensure disciplined execution and controlled change
- Drive Enterprise Visibility and Transparency
- Defining portfolio dashboards, KPIs, and reporting structures.
- Early identification of risks across the entire change agenda.
- Maintaining clarity on dependencies, timelines, and impacts
- Steering delivery teams toward outcomes, not just deliverables.
- Responsible for planning a portfolio
- Engages with Business/Technology/Enablement & Control teams outside the CPMO office to understand portfolio s strategic objectives
- Ensure portfolio projects are aligned to bank s strategy and provide quantifiable business value
- Engages with Business/Technology/Enablement & Control teams outside the office to initiate annual demand process
- Participates in demand prioritization with Value & Reporting team for the portfolio and provides support in consolidating all requirements
- Reviews financials of portfolio with 360 Value team
- Defines a master resource plan to understand what skills and number of people are required to run the portfolio of projects successfully and reviews it with the Change Team
- Responsible for managing and ensuring a portfolio is delivered
- Building a culture of accountability, transparency, and strategic focus.
- Developing project/portfolio management maturity.
- Coaching executives and delivery teams on portfolio thinking.
- Works with Integration & Governance team to develop a master plan for the portfolio of projects
- Identifies interdependencies and engages with Business/Technology/Enablement & Control teams outside the office to ensure alignment and action on dependencies swiftly
- Educates and provides support to Business/Technology/Enablement &Control teams outside the office on PMO processes and templates
- Proactively engages with Change team to ensure staffing is available for current and future projects and to measure and track team s productivity
- Upon a project closure within a portfolio, ensures project is transitioned to Value & Reporting team for value tracking and realization
- Prepares Portfolio-level status reports and participates/presents in portfolio-level governance forums
- Provides relevant data requests / updates to Integration& Governance team as required on an adhoc basis
- Work closely with program managers to resolve issues and handle escalations.
Requirements
- University Degree in Technology, Management or equivalent
- MBA or equivalent master s degree is preferred.
- Experience of working with Banking IT or PMO
- Total experience of 15+ years
- Minimum of 5 years with oversight of/running large programs of work
- Previous experience in providing reporting for, presenting to Executive level
- Previous experience engaging directly with SVP level in reviews of challenges with ability to guide and challenge as required
- Minimum 10years of experience in managing portfolios, project governance and delivery
- Experience in managing a team size of 5-10 people
- PMP, PRINCE2 (or equivalent) certified
- S@Fe certified (or other agile certification)
- Experience in processing large amount of data points and refining into clear, concise reports for Executive level with addition of recommendations, options and/or insights
- Experience in creating and presenting reports/packs for senior management up to and including executive level
- Experience in providing information in concise & clear manner to Executives; both verbal and written
- Experience in oversight/managing more than 5 projects/programs concurrently
- Experience in engaging with Executives, providing management level insights and accountability
- Expertise in portfolio management and portfolio planning
- Experience in handling multiple programs with interdependencies and an ability to proactively resolve issues
- Experience in managing various project management delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid)
- Experience of working with a cross-functional team
- Good stakeholder management capability and working with senior management
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications; PowerPoint, Excel, etc
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and deliver within tight deadlines
