This is an open position with Potomac Edison, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

The MD Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Program Manager possesses a sharp business mind and proven ability to strategize and implement high-level program initiatives. As a natural leader, this person has strong talent for project coordination, driving accountability, and delegation. The Program Manager is motivated by a desire to optimize productivity and nurture program success from inception to completion.

This position is located onsite at Williamsport Service Center in Williamsport, Maryland. Other service centers in western Maryland will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Potomac Edison engineering project sponsors and assigned project managers to develop scope, deliverables, resources, work plan, budget, and timing for MD Programs.
  • Drive the Request for Project Approval creation process in Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management for DER-related work.
  • Support FE PE engineering through the annual capital budget portfolio process for DER-related work.
  • Assist FE PE engineering with project tracking, coordinating design estimates, and accurate budgeting for projects.
  • Manage program schedule among stakeholders and drive project teams for optimal reliability enhancement and return on investment.
  • Identify key requirements for cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • Develop and manage budget for projects and be accountable for delivering against established business goals.
  • Coordinate design review meetings among stakeholders to ensure successful project completion before execution.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and overcome program risks, produce program reports, and obtain approval for scope/schedule/resource changes.
  • Support operation and maintenance of assets.
  • Assist with development of technology standards and coordinate engineering support as needed.
  • Support and partner with PE distribution engineering and participate in program teams and industry organizations such as EPRI.
  • Support IT System Integration including technology protocols and communications platforms.
  • Assist PE Rate Districts in tracking program progress and coordinating filing of annual reports with the MD Public Service Commission.
  • Support MD in developing consistent long-term strategies and plans aligned with the Emerging Technologies Roadmap.
  • Provide support to resolve material issues through involvement with regional affiliates.
  • Assist with presentations to leadership and external stakeholders on program justifications and updates.
  • Consistently anticipate customer needs and deliver high-quality results.
  • Support the FE storm process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Business, Finance, Project Management, or related discipline and minimum 5 years related utility distribution experience required.
  • Or High School Diploma / GED and minimum 7 years related utility distribution experience required.
  • 5 years of project management experience or equivalent required.
  • Project management skills with ability to develop, manage, and control multiple tasks.
  • Exceptional skills in leadership, time management, facilitation, and organization.
  • Outstanding knowledge of change management principles and experience managing stakeholders and driving accountability.
  • Knowledge of company's practices and standards for engineering construction and maintenance of distribution lines.
  • Ability to communicate complexities across business units.
  • Persuasive and professional verbal and written communication skills with multiple constituencies.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions and resolve operational issues.
  • Knowledge of Work Management Tools (GIS View, CREWS, SAP), Outage Management System (Power On), Transmission Outage Databases and Planning & Protection Programs (CYME DIST, CYME TCC, LFDMS, RSS, CASCADE).
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple departments in multiple locations.
