About the role
Edelman Ottawa is looking for a Program Manager (PM) to join their Public & Government Affairs Practice. The role involves building and overseeing public sector business development and advocacy campaigns for clients in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector.
Responsibilities
- Support the client relationship, managing day‑to‑day activity and follow‑through on client deliverables.
- Develop, write, and edit communications and stakeholder materials with a demonstrated understanding of client business, marketing, and communication objectives.
- Formulate thoughtful points of view and recommendations based on your understanding of the public sector landscape.
- Display understanding of Edelman consulting processes including public engagement, messaging workshops, government monitoring and stakeholder mapping exercises; lead aspects of these assignments.
- Demonstrate either an understanding of government IT modernization agenda and a willingness to learn operations and political process – or demonstrate an understanding of government operations and political process.
- Create research‑driven public sector business development and political advocacy programs that meet or exceed client objectives.
- A willingness to understand the government IT modernization agenda.
- Proactively contribute to the development and growth of client accounts, working with and mobilizing Edelman specialties and resources across multiple offices.
Qualifications
- 3–4 years of experience in communications and consulting, preferably with experience in the ICT and government sectors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Liberal Arts or comparable required; graduate/advanced degree preferred.
- Depth of experience developing strategic communication plans.
- Experience integrating and collaborating across multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Detail‑oriented and highly organized, with experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong analytical, prioritization and communication skills.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills, and ability to provide intuitive plain‑language understanding to clients.
- Experience developing relationships with third‑party organizations, and attending external meetings and events representing the agency and client.
- Preference given to candidates who have the ability to register as a consultant lobbyist for the Government of Canada and/or subnational jurisdictions without limitation.
