About
American Public Transportation Association (APTA) seeks an individual to jointly support its Bus and Rail Transit Programs and is responsible for organizing activities of select APTA bus and rail committees, standards groups, conference sessions, and other initiatives. The position requires project management skills as well as extensive communication and interaction with APTA members and transit industry stakeholders.
Duties
- Serve as staff advisor to various APTA committees
- Provide support for rail and/or bus standards working groups under the APTA standards development program
- Provide support for sessions and manage logistics at major APTA conferences
- Update bus and rail committees’ community pages on APTAConnect, an online resource for APTA members
- Respond to inquiries related to the rail and bus programs from members and outside stakeholders
- Support other bus and rail initiatives as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 2-4 years of project management experience in public transportation or a related field (Specific expertise with bus or rail transit programs or operations is a plus)
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work effectively with others as well as independently
- Ability to travel to conferences and meetings
- Passion for engaging with and providing high-quality service to APTA members and the transit industry
Compensation and Benefits
APTA offers a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability insurance; paid time off; a 401(k)-retirement plan; professional development opportunities; and commuter benefits to assist with public transportation costs. The annual base starting salary is anticipated to be in the range of $56,400 to $75,199.
Work Location and Schedule
This position is based in Washington D.C. and currently operates on a hybrid work schedule. Employees are required to work in the office on two specific days, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the flexibility for you to choose a third in-office day. The remaining two days of the work week can be worked remotely. Please note that this schedule may be adjusted at any time based on the Association’s needs.
