Must Have Technical/Functional Skills

Program Management

Mortgage Domain Expertise

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the US Residential Mortgage lifecycle: Origination, Processing, Underwriting, and Closing.
  • Deep understanding of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac guidelines, FHA/VA requirements, and private investor overlays.
  • Familiarity with mortgage document types (Income, Asset, Tax, Collateral) and their validation logic.

Technology & AI Literacy

  • Strong conceptual understanding of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Intelligent Document Processing (IDP).
  • Experience with Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) and tools like Jira/Confluence.
  • Ability to discuss technical data contracts and system architecture with engineers while translating impact to business users.

Roles & Responsibilities

Gen‑AI Program Oversight & Delivery

  • Lead the implementation roadmap for Gen‑AI based Mortgage IDP (extracting data from 1003s, paystubs, W2s, etc.) and Gen‑AI assisted underwriting.
  • Define program scope, milestones, and success metrics (KPIs) focused on reducing Turnaround Time (TAT) and improving “Right First Time” ratios.
  • Manage cross‑functional workstreams, ensuring technical development aligns with the specific nuances of mortgage credit policy and secondary market requirements.

Underwriting & IDP Strategy

  • Supervise the integration of Gen‑AI modules into existing Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and Loan Management Systems (LMS).
  • Manage dependencies between data ingestion, AI model processing, and downstream automated decision engines.
  • Oversee API‑led integrations with third‑party providers (Bureaus, VOE/VOI, Appraisal vendors).

Compliance, Ethics & Governance

  • Define end‑to‑end flows: application intake → KYC/AML → bureau pulls → documentation → underwriting → approval → disbursement.
  • Specify API/integration requirements with bureaus, KYC providers, appraisal systems, e‑sign, and payment gateways.

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure all Gen‑AI solutions adhere to Fair Lending acts (ECOA, HMDA) and internal risk & control frameworks.
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance to manage AI‑specific risks, including model bias, data privacy (PII), and “Explainable AI” requirements for adverse action notices.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for executive leadership, providing transparent reporting on budget, risks, and ROI.
  • Facilitate high‑level workshops to align Underwriting, Risk, Operations, and Tech teams on the AI product vision.

Quality & Performance Validation

  • Oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT) specifically for AI model accuracy and “confidence score” thresholds.
  • Validate that Gen‑AI outputs consistently meet the rigorous accuracy standards required for mortgage auditing and securitization.
