Job Description:
Our client, a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation, is seeking a Project Director to oversee the full project portfolio and ensure the successful delivery of all commercial and operational objectives. The role is accountable for project governance, risk management, contractual control, and establishing a disciplined reporting framework across all projects.
Responsibilities: • Lead and coordinate the project team to deliver successful, profitable projects. • Serve as an executive member of the Board/EXCO and contribute to overall leadership. • Implement a consistent reporting framework with weekly and monthly portfolio reviews. • Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards across all project activities. • Maintain full oversight of all active projects, highlighting risks, delays, and cash‑flow issues. • Review and approve project contracts at initiation. • Oversee commercial milestones with Project Managers and Engineers. • Manage all contractual and commercial activities, including claims, variations, and risk control. • Oversee invoicing, cash collection, and commercial milestone compliance across the portfolio. • Provide senior guidance to Project Managers to support delivery and client satisfaction. • Act as the primary escalation point for project risks and ensure effective mitigation. • Guide cost analysis, budget reviews, and NCR cost control. • Collaborate with Sales on forecasted opportunities and provide technical/commercial input. • Support the growth of the Spares Sales Department. • Foster strong leadership, teamwork, and positive employee relations within the department. • Work with the Board on the company’s strategic plan and drive its execution. • Maintain and update ISO documentation, department flows, and project policies • Contribute to long‑term growth and profitability strategies and oversee implementation. • Optimise organisational structure and staffing to support project and business objectives. • Assess and improve project systems and processes to drive innovation and operational excellence.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill • BSc Mechanical Engineering preferred • PMP, MBA, or equivalent is advantageous • Technical expertise in EPC/EPCM project environments and mining‑sector OEM/supplier operations. • Established history of senior‑level project leadership with responsibility for full portfolio management. • Experience engaging effectively with Boards, EXCO members, and shareholders. • Strong capability in commercial management, contractual oversight, and financial governance.
