About the role

About Us

Join a construction company established in Montreal for over 70 years, renowned for its expertise in roofing and sheet metal work on commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. We are seeking a visionary Project Director, passionate about construction management, to pilot the next phase of growth and optimization for the project team.

As a Strategic Project Director, you won't just supervise construction sites; you'll be the architect of operational efficiency and the mentor for your team. This Project Director role is crucial and is at the heart of the company's transformation. It demands structured leadership and exemplary rigor to ensure the success, profitability, and quality of the roughly ten simultaneously active projects. If you are a Senior Project Manager or an experienced Project Director (with approximately 10 years of experience in the construction sector), ready to put your strategic thinking to work for a culture of Excellence, Cooperation, and Enjoyment, this challenge is for you.

This Project Director position is based in Saint-Léonard (Montreal) and is aimed at a professional who seeks autonomy and the opportunity to align directly with General Management and the President on the company's major orientations.

Advantages

By joining our client, a leader in industrial management and construction in Montreal, the Project Director will benefit from the following advantages:

  • Competitive salary in the pay scale of $105,000 to $127,500 annually and higher, based on experience and profile.
  • Medium-to-long-term advancement potential, aligned with the company's sustained growth.
  • Participation in the Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP) of 2% / 2% after 1 year, for an investment in your future.
  • Company vehicle provided, in addition to a work cell phone and laptop.
  • Vacation according to CCQ standards (4 weeks), with negotiation possible for a senior profile.
  • Group insurance coverage starting after 6 months of service (negotiable upon hiring).
  • A pleasant work environment in Saint-Léonard with a rooftop terrace (ideal for team BBQs).
  • The unique opportunity to play a strategic alignment and transformation role within an established company.

Responsibilities

  • The Project Director is responsible for the overall performance of the team and the quality of execution of mandates in the field of industrial construction management.
  • Manage the team (4 Project Managers and 2 Project Coordinators), including coaching, skills development, and assignment of mandates.
  • Orchestrate and supervise the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects (more than 10 active sites) to guarantee their success, profitability, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Act as an expert and change agent to define, document, and improve project management methods (templates, follow-ups, tools), thereby participating in the company's transformation.
  • Maintain strict monitoring and control over budgets, schedules, and margins, and quickly identify potential deviations, in collaboration with other departments.
  • Maintain a constant and transparent link with clients, external partners, and internal departments (Operations, Estimation, Service) for optimal strategic alignment.
  • Directly manage major projects, such as those at Montréal–Trudeau Airport, requiring expertise in public project management and great administrative rigor.
  • Report to the General Manager and the President, playing a strategic advisory role on the risks and opportunities of the project portfolio.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role of Project Director in Industrial Construction Management, you must excel in the following areas:

  • Assertive but non-directive leadership (servant leader), capable of mobilizing the team through example, support, and coaching.
  • Solid strategic thinking and the ability to structure information and processes in a rapidly transforming environment.
  • Organization, rigor, and attention to detail to manage a significant volume of projects and administrative information.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of simplifying information and moving files forward with clarity for all stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in construction project management software such as BlueBeam and Maestro; familiarity with SixValgo is a major asset.
  • Ability to quickly learn the technical specificities of the field (roofing and sheet metal work) if your experience comes from another construction sector.
  • Open-mindedness and adaptability to question established practices and implement new working methods.
  • French required (oral and written): Rigor and clarity in French are essential for internal communication, team coaching, and collaboration with clients and partners in Montreal.
  • English is an asset.
