Role overview:
Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning and Projects, the Project Finance Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Project’s minor contracts, invoice approval requests, weekly cashflow forecasting, month end accruals and other internal administrative financial reporting. This role will be the key interface between the finance team and project team to support the relevant reporting activities.
Primary objectives of role:
- Perform duties in accordance with TMC’s safety, environmental, community and quality policies, corporate values, and strategies.
- Coordinate the setup of any new vendors between vendor and Finance department.
- Coordinate the approval of vendor invoices by package owners, ensuring compliance with company Delegation of Authority (DOA) and procedures.
- Provide Finance department with input to the weekly, monthly and quarterly cash outflow forecast.
- Collaborate closely with package owners/project leads and vendors to provide the Finance department with monthly accruals (accuracy is required).
- Maintain accurate records of all contracts and related documentation.
- Maintain financial registers (i.e. project invoice register, commitment register and cost report) including historical records.
- Provide support with the collation of data to support internal and external audit processes.
- Ensure accurate record keeping of commercial and financial records on TMC’s server in accordance with company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
Other responsibilities:
- Respond to and manage ad hoc requests from internal functional stakeholders, as required.
- Other duties that may arise from time to time which fall within the parameters of this role, for which the incumbent has the necessary skills and competencies.

Commercial service providers Academic researchers and partners
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or another related field is required,
- 5 -7 years in Finance/Accounting administration (or similar) role. Previous experience working in operations/mining/construction industry (preferred).
Technical skills and competencies:
- Strong communicator, able to liaise with all areas of the business, package owners/project leads and vendors,
- Strong ability to analyse data and solve problems, with high attention to detail,
- Familiarity with project cost & financial reporting,
- Strong organisational and planning skills, ability to prioritise tasks in the face of competing demands, and proven success in delivering work personally (and through others) to tight deadlines,
- Proficient computer skills: Windows, Word and must have advanced Excel skills.
