Systems Engineer

About

We are seeking a hands‐on Project Engineer to deliver infrastructure and cloud projects for a growing Managed Services Provider (MSP). This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys client‐facing work, owns projects end‐to‐end, and has strong experience across Windows, Microsoft applications, and Azure cloud services.

You will work directly with clients to design, implement, and migrate IT solutions, partnering with internal service desk and engineering teams to ensure smooth transitions into ongoing support. The environment is primarily Windows/Microsoft‐centric, with limited Linux exposure as needed.

Project Delivery & Engineering

• Lead and execute client projects including:
  • Windows Server upgrades and migrations
  • Active Directory, Azure AD, and identity modernization
  • Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams) deployments
  • Azure infrastructure builds and migrations
• Perform on‐site and remote project work at client locations
• Own projects from design through implementation, documentation, and handoff to support teams

Cloud & Microsoft Platforms

• Design and implement Azure solutions (VMs, networking, storage, backup, security)
• Support hybrid environments (on‐prem Windows + Azure)
• Configure and migrate Microsoft 365 tenants
• Implement security best practices (MFA, Conditional Access, backup, DR)

Client Interaction & Consulting

• Act as a technical point of contact for assigned projects
• Gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions
• Communicate clearly with non‐technical stakeholders
• Provide post‐project knowledge transfer and documentation

Standards, Documentation & Handoff

• Produce clear project documentation, diagrams, and implementation notes
• Follow MSP standards and best practices
• Ensure clean handoff to Service Desk / NOC teams
• Identify opportunities for standardization and improvement

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years experience in systems engineering or project delivery (MSP experience strongly preferred)
• Strong expertise in:
  • Windows Server (2016–2022)
  • Active Directory / Azure AD
  • Microsoft 365
• Hands‐on experience with Azure infrastructure
• Comfortable performing on‐site client work
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‐solving skills
• Excellent communication and customer‐facing skills

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Experience with:
  • Intune / Endpoint Manager
  • Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery
  • Networking (firewalls, VPNs, VLANs)
• Basic Linux administration experience
• PowerShell scripting
• Azure or Microsoft certifications (AZ‐104, MS‐102, etc.)
• Prior MSP project delivery experience
