Project Lead Automation PCS 7 (M/F/D)

About

The Project Lead Automation (PCS 7) works in a highly regulated chemical production environment and acts as the technical lead for automation-related adjustments, recipe alignment and system optimization. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Siemens PCS 7, batch automation and the ability to ensure that recipe structures, process steps and control sequences are fully aligned with approved manufacturing instructions.

The position requires strong analytical skills, deep process understanding, and the ability to translate manufacturing requirements into robust automation logic.

Tasks

• Leads the review and alignment of PCS 7 recipe steps with approved manufacturing instructions and SOPs
• Ensures that automation logic, interlocks, control modules and recipe phases comply with GMP and process safety requirements
• Identifies inconsistencies, deviations or gaps between batch recipes and written manufacturing procedures and implements corrections
• Supports the optimization, documentation and change control of automated process sequences
• Collaborates closely with production, process engineering and quality to ensure compliant and efficient recipe execution
• Coordinates with external automation partners and internal stakeholders to plan and implement system updates or modifications
• Executes root cause analyses related to automation deviations and supports CAPA implementation
• Provides regular status updates, technical documentation and risk assessments to project management and site leadership

Qualification

• Solid hands-on experience with Siemens PCS 7, ideally including Batch / Route Control
• Strong understanding of chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing processes
• Experience in recipe development, automation architecture, control strategy and GMP-compliant automation
• Familiarity with manufacturing instructions (Herstellvorschriften), SOP alignment and documentation requirements
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to troubleshoot automation and process deviations
• Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with Production, QA, Engineering and external vendors
• Fluent in German or English (German highly preferred)
• Structured working style, proactive mindset and the ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team
