Project Manager – Commercial, QSR, Retail, Healthcare & Industrial Construction

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial and industrial construction projects throughout the Indianapolis market. This role is responsible for managing projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring delivery that is on time, on budget, and aligned with the highest standards of quality and safety.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in large-scale commercial, industrial, healthcare, or retail construction, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage subcontractors, and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Preconstruction & Project Planning

• Lead project startup, including site assessments, constructability reviews, and safety planning
• Define and validate project scope, budgets, and schedules in collaboration with estimating and operations teams
• Coordinate permitting, inspections, and regulatory requirements in accordance with Indiana state and local codes
• Execute subcontractor buyout and procurement strategies to ensure cost control and quality delivery
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules (CPM) and communicate milestones to stakeholders
• Partner with clients, architects, and engineers to align expectations and project deliverables

2. Project Execution & Field Leadership

• Oversee day-to-day construction operations across multiple trades (MEP, structural, civil, finish)
• Manage superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure efficient project flow
• Ensure all work complies with drawings, specifications, and applicable building codes
• Monitor project budgets, track costs, and proactively address variances and change orders
• Lead jobsite meetings, coordinate schedules, and maintain strong communication across all teams
• Maintain high standards of quality control, jobsite cleanliness, and schedule adherence
• Drive project completion through punch list management and final inspections

3. Client & Stakeholder Communication

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring a high level of service and transparency
• Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and progress milestones
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, subcontractors, and trade partners
• Lead weekly project and safety meetings with internal and external stakeholders

4. Financial & Risk Management

• Maintain accountability for project budgets, forecasting, and profitability targets
• Review and approve subcontractor invoices, change orders, and cost documentation
• Identify and mitigate project risks related to schedule, cost, safety, and compliance

5. Safety & Compliance

• Enforce strict adherence to OSHA standards and company safety protocols
• Ensure proper use of PPE and jobsite safety practices for all personnel
• Promote a safety-first culture across all projects
• Ensure compliance with all Indiana state and local regulations

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Project Management experience in commercial or industrial construction
• Proven experience managing projects from ground-up or major renovations through closeout
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems (including MEP coordination)
• Experience managing budgets, schedules, and subcontractor performance
• Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project)
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
• PMP certification or equivalent project management training
• Experience in healthcare, industrial, or large-scale commercial projects

Work Environment & Schedule

• Full-time position, typical schedule Monday–Friday (45–50 hours/week)
• Local Indianapolis projects – no long-term travel required
• Combination of office and active jobsite environment
• Ability to walk jobsites, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed
