Trueline's client, a well-established commercial electrical contractor in the DMV area with a strong presence in public school and healthcare projects, is seeking a Commercial Electrical Project Manager to join their team in VA. This is a hands‑on leadership role supporting field teams while driving project financials, schedules, and client communication for complex commercial builds.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple commercial electrical projects from handoff through closeout
- Lead project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and cost control
- Write and manage RFIs, change orders, and submittals
- Oversee billing, schedule of values, and monthly WIP reporting
- Partner with Superintendents and Foremen to monitor manpower, materials, and job progress
- Visit active job sites 1‑2 times per week to support field leadership
- Review and negotiate major material purchases and subcontract agreements
- Track project financial performance and develop recovery plans when needed
- Support prefabrication planning and coordination
- Participate in project closeout, lessons learned, and internal feedback reviews
- Contribute to client relationship management and repeat business efforts
Requirements
Must‑Haves
- 5+ years of experience in commercial electrical construction project management
- Experience managing ground‑up or renovation projects in public schools or similar institutional environments
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and ability to interpret drawings and specifications
- Experience handling RFIs, change orders, submittals, and project billing
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage multiple projects while staying detail‑oriented and organized
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with field and office teams
Nice‑to‑Haves
- Background as an electrician, Foreman, or field leader before moving into project management
- Experience with healthcare projects
- Experience with Sage Timberline or similar construction accounting software
- Familiarity with prefabrication processes
- Existing relationships within the DMV construction market
