Position Summary

Position Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or diploma in Architectural Technologies; and
  • Minimum of 8 years of direct construction project management experience.
  • A similar combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Ability to obtain membership in full standing with the Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians (SASTT) or the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geo‑Scientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Gold Seal Certification (GSC), or similar professional certification will be considered an asset; and
  • APPA Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) designation is desirable. A candidate not possessing the CEFP will be expected to complete it within two years of hire.

Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in this Role

  • Strong technical knowledge of various building types, traditional contractor and subcontractor scopes of work, construction systems and methods, construction specifications, and scheduling methods.
  • Working knowledge of the National Construction Codes of Canada, National Building Code, OHS legislation, National Fire Code, Model National Energy Codes, ASHRAE standards, requirements for barrier‑free design, occupancy limits, and safety.
  • Ability to build and monitor project budgets and appropriate cost control measures, knowledge of project finance, budgeting, costing and business case development.
  • Proven ability to estimate construction costs, to understand risks, do “reasonableness” test on design and costs; provide advice and guidance in determining appropriate construction methods for differing projects.
  • Ability to create, administer, and manage contracts using industry best practices, strong knowledge base in contract administration and law, focusing on construction industry.
  • Ability to identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of energy conservation, life cycle costing, product safety, and operations impacts to identify and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills characterized by effective verbal and written communication, active listening, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
