Lead Electrical Project Manager

Job Purpose

As the Lead Electrical Project Manager on electrical construction projects, you will be responsible for planning, co-ordination and successful execution of quality electrical substation, reticulation, street lighting, overhead powerline and renewable energy projects. The role ensures that all projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget, while complying with industry regulations and client requirements. The Project Manager will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure high-quality service delivery across all project phases

Responsibilities

Your tasks will include the following:

• Plan, execute and manage quality electrical projects in line with statutory requirements and client specifications from Tender Stage to Commissioning and hand-over of the project to the Client.
• Responsible for submission of competent tenders
• Managing the technical interfaces of the project
• Develop detailed project execution plans, construction programs and resource allocation strategies
• Ensure that projects are executed in line with the design
• Advising on electrical designs and solutions during proposal phase
• Managing design changes in line with Design Change Request requirements (Scope management)
• Attending Project Progress & Review Meetings during various phases of the project
• Timeous procurement of materials required for the project
• Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, field staff and subcontractors.
• Supervision of Personnel and timekeeping
• Submission of Progress Claims and attending to Contractual matters.
• Manage Project Risks and Compensation Events
• Ensure Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) compliance.
• Ensure Construction Regulations and other Project related compliance issues are adhered to
• Conduct site inspections and ensure quality control standards are met
• Ensure that technical tests are conducted in line with international standards and customer requirements.
• Testing, Commissioning and hand-over of Project to Client
• Compiling of all technical documentation required on the project, including maintenance and operational manuals
• Compilation of training material for the Client’s personnel
• Resolve project challenges, delays, and technical issues effectively

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree / Diploma/Equivalent in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
• Registered as a Professional Engineer/Technologist with ECSA will be an advantage
• Minimum 10 years Project Management experience with 5 years in large electrical construction projects
• Computer Skills Essential:-MS Excel & MS Project.
• Autocad and Pastel Evolution will be an advantage
• Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings, schematic drawings and Scope of Work
• Quick problem solving and conflict resolution abilities
• Must be able to work under pressure
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Strong Planning, co-ordination and administration skills
• Travelling to various sites will be required

Salary Range

R600,000 to R1,200,000 CTC
