In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead and grow a team of engineers managing projects from concept to completion, including engineering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project close-out for high voltage transmission, substation, and distribution facilities. Your leadership will ensure that project delivery meets client expectations while navigating through various phases effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Align with the Client's Project Management process to prepare and update financial forecasts, project schedules, and necessary reports regularly.
  • Facilitate and lead project meetings, ensuring that minutes, action items, and notes are documented and shared promptly with the team.
  • Build and manage relationships with clients to ensure their expectations are always clear and met, collaborating with the Jacobs team to resolve any client concerns proactively.
  • Keep projects on track by monitoring risks and ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, scope, and quality, while identifying and mitigating risks as they emerge.
  • Handle project communications efficiently, responding promptly to inquiries from clients and support teams as required.
  • Alert project stakeholders immediately if the project is forecasted to exceed approved budgets or schedules, or if significant issues arise.
  • Oversee project administration tasks such as processing purchase orders, change orders, unvouchered liabilities, invoice reviews, and maintaining overall project status.
  • Coordinate the development of engineering designs, manage drawing submittals, and ensure quality review processes are followed.
  • Address and resolve emergent field issues in alignment with all codes, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Track and ensure project compliance with both regulatory and non-regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in resolving any siting, permitting, municipal, or abutter-related issues.
  • Lead contractor sourcing initiatives, which include issuing RFPs, conducting bid analyses, and making award recommendations.
  • Play a key role in developing and pursuing new business opportunities with existing or potential clients.
  • Support Jacobs’ business development and operational teams with proposals and other materials for new business initiatives.

Location

This position is hybrid, based in the Central/Northern California area. Candidates must be local to the area or willing to travel extensively (50%+).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program or advanced management/business degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing utility projects related to distribution planning, protection, and reliability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional presentation development and delivery skills.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities, including skills in proposal development, negotiation, and consensus-building.
  • Experience and training in project management processes relevant to the utility industry.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and attend client meetings.
