We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Project Manager to join our Finance Data & Insights team. Reporting to the Director of Finance Data & Insights, this mid-level contractor will play a critical role in managing data initiatives within Finance and Accounting. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in project management within a data environment, is comfortable navigating technical workstreams alongside data and engineering teams, and has some experience working with Finance teams. This role requires someone who can coordinate multiple work streams simultaneously, track dependencies, and keep diverse stakeholders aligned — all while maintaining a high standard for detail and accountability.
Responsibilities
- Project Documentation & Tracking: Develop and maintain project documentation including project charters, RACI matrices, risk logs, and status reports.
- Maintain and groom Jira boards to ensure accurate tracking of tasks and milestones.
- Current projects will include: Database migration - supporting the Finance workstream by managing task tracking, scheduling, and status reporting to ensure smooth change management of key reports and Finance business processes.
- Compliance reporting pipeline upgrades - gathering requirements from Tax stakeholders, building out a project plan, capturing key decisions and action items.
- Product Launch Coordination: Manage cross-functional projects related to new product launches, ensuring downstream impacts on financial reporting are identified, documented, and addressed in coordination with Revenue Accounting and FP&A teams.
- Current product launches include: Partnerships expansion - Waymo AV launch, DoorDash, etc. Client Cash Expansion - Pay with Points, Memberships (Pink), etc.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify project risks and dependencies; surface issues to the Director of Finance Data & Insights with proposed mitigation plans.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the connective tissue between data analysts, Revenue Accountants, and FP&A team members — facilitating communication and resolving blockers across workstreams.
- Meeting Facilitation: Facilitate working sessions and recurring project meetings; prepare agendas, capture decisions and action items, and distribute clear follow-up communications to mid-level stakeholders.
Requirements
- Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Required 2–4 years of project management experience with Data Products, with demonstrated experience supporting Data teams in a corporate environment.
- Required Experience working on or adjacent to financial reporting initiatives, system migrations, or financial controls projects.
- Very Nice to have Proficiency with databases (Databricks, Redshift, Hive) and / or experience with database migrations.
- Nice to have Proficiency with Jira for project tracking and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) for documentation and reporting.
- Required Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare clear meeting summaries, status updates, and project documentation for mid-level stakeholders.
- Required Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and competing priorities.
- Required Nice to Have Working knowledge of SQL for querying and understanding complex datasets or data pipelines.
- Familiarity with financial reporting concepts such as revenue recognition, close processes, or FP&A workflows.
- Prior experience embedded within a data or analytics team in a Finance context.
Notes
The main project is a Databricks migration, which is finance-specific and requires managing SOX controls, change management, and creating extensive documentation due to the impact on monthly and quarterly financial reporting. Fully Remote- anywhere in the US. Strong possibility of extension.
