Overview

The Project Manager will lead our engineering team, ensuring profitability and effective client management. The role involves overseeing all project aspects, including report preparation, financial performance, workload balancing, and staff supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Lead geotechnical consultation, construction phase testing, and inspections.
  • Manage team assignments and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced environment.
  • Drive business growth and promote business development.
  • Direct field exploration programs for diverse project types.
  • Supervise field engineers during construction on projects involving various foundation types and earthwork operations.
  • Prepare detailed proposals, schedules, and budgets.
  • Develop field investigation instructions based on geotechnical scopes.
  • Formulate design recommendations based on field results and coordinate laboratory testing.
  • Review bore logs and test pit data for technical reports.
  • Conduct geotechnical analysis for foundations and retaining walls.
  • Prepare comprehensive geotechnical engineering reports for project review.
  • Evaluate construction phase reports for compliance with specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and contractors regarding project tasks.
  • Ensure project quality and timely, budget-conscious delivery.
  • Manage project financials, including invoicing and subcontractor reviews.
  • Mentor staff and support training program development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Soil Science, Geology, or related field; geotechnical concentration preferred.
  • Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
  • Professional Engineer license required.
  • 5+ years of experience in geotechnical consulting and laboratory testing.
  • 5+ years in construction phase testing and inspection.
  • Willingness to work in both office and outdoor settings.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Current or past certifications such as ACI concrete testing, OSHA training, and gauge training are advantages.
  • Proficiency with metric and English tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn software for field data and laboratory entries.
  • Experience with geotechnical software for design tasks.
  • Independent thinking and problem-solving capability.
  • Self-starter with a collaborative approach.
  • Strong organizational and delegation skills.
  • Familiarity with mapping websites for due diligence.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar software for site plans.
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of planning and zoning processes.
  • Able to lead in a team-oriented environment focused on quality outcomes.

The salary range for this position is $105k - $125k.
