About the Role
The Project Manager will join the client’s Project Management Office (PMO) to lead the implementation of a statewide child and behavioral health case‑management system for the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office of Behavioral Health. Reporting to the PMO Lead, you’ll partner with business leaders, technical teams, and external stakeholders to deliver a high‑impact, enterprise‑scale technology solution on time, on budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Plan & Execute: Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and success criteria; develop detailed work plans and resource allocations.
- Stakeholder Management: Identify, engage, and communicate with all project stakeholders (state/federal agencies, clinical staff, IT teams, vendors).
- Resource Coordination: Negotiate staffing with people managers, assign clear roles/responsibilities, and ensure teams stay focused on priorities.
- Risk & Issue Management: Implement reporting mechanisms, track risks/issues, and drive corrective actions to keep the project on track.
- Requirements & Quality: Capture functional & non‑functional requirements, trace them through design, testing, and deployment; conduct reviews and obtain approvals.
- Documentation: Maintain up‑to‑date project artifacts (charters, schedules, status reports, change logs, lessons learned).
- Best‑Practice Advocacy: Share PMO methodologies and continuous‑improvement ideas with peers.
Leadership & Change Management
- Build collaborative, high‑performing project teams across multiple functional groups.
- Act as a change‑agent: communicate benefits, address resistance, and adapt to evolving business needs.
- Prioritize tasks, remove blockers, and recommend alternatives to mitigate schedule delays.
- Mentor junior project staff and disseminate lessons learned throughout the organization.
Required Skills & Experience
