Responsibilities

We are looking for Project Managers to lead and deliver exciting, innovative projects including flood risk management studies and schemes that reduce the risk of flooding to communities and enhance the environment. This role sits in Project and Programme Delivery (PPD) and is a prominent position within our integrated project teams, taking responsibility for the management of projects as the Client project manager, or working alongside senior colleagues.

• Manage the project delivery process from initial strategic planning, through to feasibility, detailed design and then into implementation, construction and handover.
• Support project team members, flexing your involvement to suit the strength of the team.
• Build a great working environment to create high performing teams including our suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists and other partners.
• Apply capable commercial acumen in project, contract and risk management, establish effective relationships, facilitating collaborative and efficient ways of working.
• Make project decisions informed by technical leads whilst following governance procedures, project assurance and legislation.
• Develop a resilient network of relationships with stakeholders such as statutory authorities, landowners and local communities to negotiate agreements, consents, approvals and external funding.
• Respond to incidents and provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

Experience and Skills

• A relevant degree such as civil engineering, environmental science or geography.
• Robust experience of both contract and project management.
• Ideally, but not exclusively, experience working on civil engineering projects and be a natural innovator, expert negotiator and promoter of good practice.
• Bring an inspirational momentum that ensures everything is done on time, to quality and budget.
• Having at least four years project management experience, as a minimum.
• A project management qualification such as PRINCE2 or APM.
• If not already a member of a professional body such as ICE, CIWEM or APM, we will support you in achieving this.
• More experience of financial and commercial controls, NEC contract suites, CDM regulations and risk management is beneficial.
• Driving licence required.

Location

Base location can be flexible within the East Hub (Reading, Welwyn, Peterborough, Norwich, Ipswich) but with an expectation of co-locating in Hub or delivery partner offices occasionally.
