About the role
Position Summary
Project Planner responsible for the development, maintenance, and coordination of integrated project schedules supporting Process (M&P) and Electrical construction activities across medium to large scale semiconductor projects.
The role ensures that all Process (M&P) and Electrical planning, sequencing, progress tracking, and reporting activities are aligned with project scope, execution strategy, and project controls requirements. The Planner works closely with construction, project controls and procurement to support project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Schedule Development
- Develop and maintain detailed, logic-driven project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Build integrated schedules from first principles, including activity development, sequencing, logic ties, durations, constraints, and work breakdown structures (WBS).
- Develop schedules covering mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, piping, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Establish and maintain baseline schedules aligned with project execution strategy and construction priorities.
- Apply Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling principles to determine critical path, float analysis, and schedule risk areas.
- Develop and maintain resource-loaded schedules to support manpower forecasting and execution planning.
- Ensure schedules accurately reflect field execution methodologies and installation sequencing.
Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Update schedules using actual field progress, installed quantities, and productivity data.
- Monitor planned versus actual performance and identify schedule variances or delays.
- Prepare and distribute lookahead schedules (weekly, b-weekly, monthly) to support field coordination and execution.
- Produce schedule performance, productivity, and progress reports for project leadership.
- Analyse schedule impacts and support development of mitigation and recovery plans.
Project Controls & Risk Management
- Support project controls functions by tracking progress against scope, labor hours, and budgets.
- Perform schedule impact analysis for scope changes, delays, or execution risks.
- Coordinate with project controls to align schedule forecasts with project financial performance.
- Identify constraints, interface risks, and opportunities for schedule optimization.
- Assist with development recovery strategies where required.
Field Coordination & Construction Integration
- Maintain strong awareness of construction activities and field execution progress.
- Validate installed progress and ensure schedule updates accurately reflect site conditions.
- Work closely with construction teams to confirm sequencing and workfront availability.
- Translate field conditions and constraints into schedule adjustments and execution plans.
- Support construction planning meetings and daily/weekly coordination activities.
Stakeholder Communication
- Communicate schedule status, risks, priorities, and impacts to the Project Management and Project Controls teams.
- Participate in schedule review meetings with internal teams and clients.
- Collaborate with construction, procurement and project controls to ensure alignment across project phases.
Safety & Quality Responsibilities
- Comply with all company Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards and procedures.
- Promote safe work practices and contribute to a strong safety culture.
- Ensure planning activities align with project quality requirements and reporting standards.
- Support compliance with project procedures, permits, and execution controls.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Controls, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in project planning and scheduling within oil & gas semiconductor, data centre, or construction environments.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling software.
- Demonstrated ability to build schedules from first principles, including logic development and sequencing.
- Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling principles.
- Experience developing and managing resource-loaded schedules.
- Strong knowledge of process (mechanical and piping) and electrical construction activities, sequencing, and installation methodologies.
- Experience tracking progress, productivity, and schedule performance.
- Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary project environments.
- Good understanding of Lump Sum and BOQ re-measurable contracts.
