The department "Project Management of Large-Scale Projects" in the Directorate "Research" of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft headquarters acts as a neutral party responsible for quality assurance of cross-institute large-scale projects and structures. A special focus is placed on the development and establishment of uniform governance structures and standards to ensure transparency. On behalf of the Executive Board, the department takes over the Project Management Office (PMO) for strategically relevant, cross-institute large-scale projects (formats and individual projects) as well as project management for centrally coordinated projects and networks within the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
Your Role
Here you will drive change Look forward to very diverse and demanding tasks:
- Development of various cross-institute large-scale projects, some with external participation
- Strategic development and management of cooperation formats with external partners from research and industry
- Co-shaping the further development and expansion of the department's Project Management Office as a central strategic management element of the Executive Board
- Consulting and support for project managers from various Fraunhofer institutes on selected large-scale projects
- Establishment of project management standards and systematic risk management
- Development and execution of evaluation processes
- Communication with internal and external stakeholders as well as conception and establishment of stakeholder-oriented, standardized reporting systems
- Committee work
- Derivation of recommendations for action and preparation of decision proposals for the Executive Board
Your Profile
This is how you contribute:
- Very good university degree (Master's) in economics, natural sciences, or engineering – ideally supplemented by a doctorate
- Several years of professional experience and sound knowledge in research, innovation, and project management, including the ability to systematically, conceptually, and team-orientedly lead complex projects to success
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and in balanced stakeholder management
- Entrepreneurial thinking and acting, as well as independence, goal orientation, commitment, and persuasiveness
- Above-average interest in the latest technological developments and trends, as well as enjoyment in working on complex topics and exploring new areas
- Strong communication skills and excellent written expression in German and English, as well as a high degree of customer orientation

The weekly working time is 19.5 hours. The position is limited to 2 years. Employment, remuneration, and social benefits are based on the collective agreement for the public sector (TVöD). In addition, Fraunhofer can grant performance- and success-related variable remuneration components.
