Responsibilities
- You will take overall responsibility for predominantly publicly funded research projects – from application to completion.
- You will manage interdisciplinary project teams throughout the entire duration and coordinate internal specialist departments as well as external partners (industry, research institutions, authorities).
- During project implementation, you will ensure that time, budget, and quality goals are met, taking into account the funding framework.
- Project controlling is also your responsibility, including fund calls, cost tracking, forecasting, and preparation of proof of use.
- You will also ensure compliance with all funding, procurement, and contract law requirements.
- You will identify risks early and initiate appropriate countermeasures.
- You will be responsible for reporting to funding bodies (e.g., federal, state, EU) and internal committees.
- You will coordinate consortia, moderate discussions, and ensure goal achievement within the partner network.
- You will work closely with the PMO, Controlling, and specialist departments and further develop project management standards in the research environment.
- In addition, you will support the specialist department, for example, in preparing templates for fund calls in accordance with the Research Allowance Act and in coordinating tasks related to funding applications.
Profile
- Completed studies in a technical or business administration field.
- Several years of experience in managing complex research or development projects, ideally in a publicly funded environment (e.g., BMBF, BMWK, EU programs, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of funding management, project controlling, and reporting.
- Experience in handling consortium agreements, ancillary provisions, and funding regulations.
- Confident management of external project partners and experience working with public clients.
- Certification according to IPMA, PMI, or PRINCE2 is desirable.
- Confident use of project management tools (e.g., Blue Ant or comparable).
- Strong communication and leadership skills, as well as structured, entrepreneurial thinking.
- High degree of personal responsibility, assertiveness, and precision in dealing with complex regulatory requirements.
