SteelHead’s team is comprised of best-in-class personnel, both at the corporate and site level with a team-first and people-first culture. Steelhead does not manage third-party assets and focuses on NOI and cash flow optimization within a portfolio of owned assets. SteelHead is responsible for managing day-to-day operations for a portfolio of residential, commercial, and mixed-use assets. The property management division manages over 4,000 residential units and 250,000 SF of commercial space in the Richmond, Tidewater, and DC markets.
Job Description
We are seeking an individual with proven skills to serve as Property Accountant for an entrepreneurial multifamily property management firm. This is an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced professional to assume financial management responsibilities at an energetic company. You will be working in a rapidly growing, dynamic, and collaborative environment with responsibility for providing timely and accurate financial reporting. This position will report to the Director of Accounting.
Responsibilities
- Review invoices in RealPage to ensure appropriate coding and approvals
- Manage financial records including monthly accruals, credit card reconciliations, complex bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations
- Close the books for multiple entities accurately and within stated deadlines
- Preparation of financial statements and consolidated financial statements
- Assist with investors’ distributions
- Assist outside accounting firms with personal property tax returns, year-end audits, K-1’s and tax return preparation
- 1099 preparation
- Communicate with vendors regarding invoice issues
- Check printing/mailing
- Maintain sound financial controls
- Assist Property Managers and staff with questions
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- 2-4 years of accounting experience
- Real estate experience preferred
- Property management accounting experience a plus
- Proficiency with Word and Excel
- Knowledge of RealPage a plus
- Strong organization skills for a variety of projects
- Ability to work with outside vendors – tax accountants, auditors, and external financial accountants
- Takes initiative and executes with confidence on agreed upon strategies – a “make it happen” mindset
- Deadline-oriented
- Ability to solve complex transactions independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Pay
$65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
