Property Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Property Staff Accountant in McLean, VA. Duties Include:

• Maintain general ledger activity for assigned properties
• Prepare and perform bank and account reconciliations on a regular basis
• Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process
• Assist with preparation of financial statements and property reporting packages
• Monitor and analyze cash activity, variances, and account balances
• Partner with AP and AR teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting
• Assist with journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
• Support lender and ownership reporting, including required documentation and communication
• Maintain accurate records and schedules for balance sheet accounts
• Assist with budgets, audits, and ad hoc reporting requests
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 2 to 4+ years of accounting experience, ideally within real estate or property accounting
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles, including cash and accrual accounting
• Experience with bank reconciliations and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
