QA Automation Engineer

Job Overview

Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to join our client to support the delivery of stable, reliable, and well tested software applications. This role plays a key part in strengthening quality across user interfaces, APIs, and backend systems through effective automation practices. The QA Automation Engineer will collaborate closely with development and product teams to identify risk early and improve release confidence. This is a contract to hire opportunity based in the Philadelphia, PA area with an onsite or hybrid work arrangement.

Compensation

$60 to $75 per hour

Key Responsibilities of the QA Automation Engineer

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks that support UI, API, and end to end testing efforts
• Deliver automated test suites for smoke, regression, integration, and release validation while ensuring environment readiness
• Validate REST APIs, backend services, and data layers, including test data setup and service mocking where appropriate
• Integrate automated testing into CI and CD pipelines and provide meaningful reporting on quality metrics and outcomes
• Partner with Agile teams to triage defects, assess risk, and support sprint planning and continuous quality improvement

Qualifications and Skills for the QA Automation Engineer

• Three or more years of QA experience with a strong focus on test automation across modern applications
• Hands on experience with automation tools or frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar technologies
• Practical experience testing APIs using tools such as Postman, Newman, REST Assured, or equivalent solutions
• Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language including Java, Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, or C#
• Experience working in Agile environments with a solid understanding of QA fundamentals including test planning, defect lifecycle management, validation strategies, and the ability to work onsite or hybrid in the Philadelphia area
