QA Tester (SOAP/REST Web Services)

Responsibilities

• Design and execute test scripts based on test strategies to identify defects prior to production.
• Perform manual, automated, and backend service testing, including integrations with upstream and downstream systems.
• Manage testing risks by documenting them clearly and taking preventative action when risks become unacceptable.
• Decompose requirements into testable cases covering positive, negative, and varied data scenarios.
• Provide verbal and written status updates to stakeholders and facilitate communication during development cycles.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance.
• SME-level expertise in Web service testing, including SOAP and REST.
• Strong understanding of XML schema and JSON.
• Proficiency in API testing and testing backend services.
• Advanced automation skills using Selenium and BDD Cucumber.
• Strong SQL skills, including complex query writing and database schema review.
• Experience with UNIX and Shell scripting.
• Knowledge of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
• Ability to work within an Agile development lifecycle.
• Proficiency in Test Planning and the testing process.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with JIRA and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools.
• Exposure to framework creation and automated testing processes.
