The European Organisation for the Exploration of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) is a political organisation comprising of 30 European member states. EUMETSAT operates satellites to monitor weather, climate, and the changing environment. They are responsible for helping to isolate potentially dangerous weather conditions that could affect air travel, farming and other key service industries.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to work at EUMETSAT’s premises in Darmstadt, Germany where you will be supporting and improving QA processes, monitoring quality indicators, reviewing software deliverables, and driving continuous improvement.

Tasks and Activities

  • Participating in meetings and recording key outcomes in Confluence or meeting minutes.
  • Monitoring recorded anomalies and coordinating meetings for timely resolution.
  • Controlling, monitoring, and producing reports on existing processes.
  • Maintaining and enhancing quality metrics and indicators.
  • Conducting incoming inspections of industry‑supplied software.
  • Supporting the organisation and execution of formal reviews and internal checkpoints in line with EUMETSAT Working Practices.
  • Actively monitoring and contributing to the risk management process.
  • Driving and maintaining the lessons learned process.
  • Performing additional ad‑hoc QA tasks in accordance with client requirements.

Skills and Experience

  • A university degree in a technical discipline, with a minimum of five years professional experience, preferably in space systems (space and/or ground segments).
  • Proven experience in the definition, implementation, monitoring, and control of quality assurance processes.
  • Strong background in risk management and lessons learned processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in anomaly and non‑conformity management.
  • Practical and rational application of international quality standards (e.g. ISO, ECSS).
  • Knowledge of software coding quality standards.
  • Experience in the management, reporting, and follow‑up of procured items.
  • Demonstrated capability to work on collaborative programmes involving multiple partners.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
