About the role

The Opportunity

A well-established and growing food manufacturing business is looking to appoint a Back Shift Quality Manager to lead the quality function during evening operations at one of its key UK sites. This is a critical role ensuring that food safety, quality, and compliance standards are consistently maintained outside of core day shift hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Quality team on back shift, ensuring standards are upheld across production
  • Ensure full compliance with Food Safety & Quality Management Systems
  • Act as the on-site technical authority during back shift operations
  • Monitor production activities to ensure adherence to customer, legal, and internal standards
  • Support and lead internal audits, inspections, and traceability exercises
  • Investigate non-conformances, complaints, and incidents, implementing effective corrective actions
  • Drive a strong quality culture and continuous improvement mindset across shift teams
  • Work closely with Production and Operations to resolve issues in real time
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of quality metrics

About You

  • Experience in a Quality or Technical role within food manufacturing
  • Good understanding of BRCGS standards and food safety requirements
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence operational teams
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience is advantageous
